Top Graphic Novel Picks

Let’s face the facts, adding cool pictures to a great story line just makes the reading experience awesome. Perhaps even more fun! We’ve listed the top 5 graphic novels, superhero and non-superhero alike.

Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore

Gotham, Gotham, Gotham! If you love the DC series, then there’s absolutely no reason not to love this hilarious graphic novel. Alan Moore never disappoints when it comes to painting the contrasting hero versus villain, sanity versus Insanity, and comedy versus tragedy scenes. We can all agree to that.

It’s Joker, the ever grinning psychotic and mayhem lover. Free once more from the asylum of Arkham, he sets out to use Commissioner Jim Gordon and her brilliant daughter, Barbara, to prove his deranged point.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ has, and will always remain a top American classic. The 288 long graphic novel is even a better version as it provides a whole new perspective to any adult who might have missed on the classic, as well as an impressive introduction to the new youngster fans.

Portraying innocence, injustice, hypocrisy, heroism, race, and class, this graphic novel's vivid illustrations best illuminate the complex human nature.

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Reportedly, Nimona was initially published as a webcomic before eventually growing into a 256-page graphic novel. It would later earn its recognition bagging a National Book Award!

Perhaps the reason Nimona stands out is how it blends both science and magic. Add that to the awesome characters, and the book becomes simply irresistible. Get ready for a ton of action, intense emotion, and some bonus sweet moments along the way.

We especially loved the character Nimona for how she is displayed: a strong and powerful female character with her set of flaws and complex persona.

Star Wars: Darth Vader by Kieron Gillen

Star Wars movies/series are no doubt lit. But guess what else is equally awesome… Yes, it's a series of graphic Novels!

Follow Darth Vader through his solo adventures, which are but not limited to the empire’s war with the opposing Rebel Alliance. The plot continues through Vader’s pursuit of personal vengeance against Rebels. He clashes with the deadly Droids and scavenger Aphra, returning to Geonosis to build his army. But some powerful people are quite against Vader finding out the truth.

Harleen (2019) by Stjepan Sejic

We all know the DC Joker’s story is never complete without the equally insane Harleen Quin. This graphic novel by Stjepan Sejic might as well be just the perfect way to analyze Dr. Harleen Quinzel’s personality.

After she began interviewing Arkham Asylum criminals, she met one strange character, The Joker. She simply couldn’t get over him. Joker always seems to say what she needs to hear, making it seem like he knows her better than Quin knows herself. Despite the warnings she gets from Dark Night himself, she won’t let it go that easy.

We strive at not just giving you any graphic novels, but the best of the best. Happy reading!
